A visual return to biblical figures
before repetition flattened them into symbols.
FIGURES — The Gospel is an
illustrated art book that approaches biblical
figures first as individuals — people shaped by
place, role, authority and consequence.
Rather than using the familiar visual language
of devotional imagery, the project takes a
restrained, museum-inspired approach to portraiture,
composition and editorial design.
Meaning develops through sequence rather than
explanation. Some figures occupy the story for
only a moment. Others remain. The book allows
their presence, environment and relationship to
the larger narrative to carry much of the meaning.
