ABOUT — MADJA ENTERTAINMENT
Ottawa–Gatineau, since 2014.
HOW WE STARTED
Madja Entertainment was founded in 2014 in Ottawa–Gatineau by Christian K. Kalambay and Imad Al-Sukkari. It started as a graphic design shop and grew into a creative studio built around visual storytelling, culture and the people behind the story.
From the beginning, Madja was built to grow beyond a single creative discipline — bringing design, visual storytelling and culture together under one studio.
THE ROAD SO FAR
Christian K. Kalambay and Imad Al-Sukkari launch the studio in Ottawa–Gatineau, initially focused on graphic design and visual communication.
Canada, The Immigrant Story becomes Madja's first feature documentary and marks a new chapter for the company.
The anthology project explores relationships, isolation, mental health and social pressure during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Madja continues producing independent and commissioned work across film, documentary, animation, design and digital production.
New documentary work, creative collaborations and a broader production slate continue to grow from the same Ottawa–Gatineau base.
WHAT MADJA IS TODAY
One studio. Many forms.
Madja Entertainment is an independent creative studio working across film, documentary, branded content, design and digital production. Our work moves between original productions and commissioned projects — the format changes, but the goal stays the same: find the story, give it a strong visual identity and make something people remember.
WHY WE'RE HERE
To develop content that celebrates diversity, fosters inclusion and brings compelling stories to audiences through film, design and digital work.
Madja has always been drawn to stories shaped by identity, migration, culture and community — but the studio is not defined by one subject. What matters is the human centre of the work: a point of view worth listening to, and a story worth carrying forward.
THE WORK BEHIND THE WORDS
THE WORK HAS TRAVELLED
The short film earned wins and official selections across multiple festivals.
Recognition stretches across Madja's film and earlier new-media work.
HOW WE WORK
Amplifying diverse voices and perspectives.
Crafting stories that are genuine and meaningful.
Delivering high-quality content that resonates.
Pushing creative boundaries to tell impactful stories.
WHO'S BEHIND IT
The right people for the story — not the same crew by default.
Madja is led by filmmaker and creative director Christian K. Kalambay and works with a network of cinematographers, editors, sound professionals, designers, performers, producers and creative collaborators.
Rather than maintaining one fixed production crew, teams are assembled around the needs of each project. That flexibility allows every production to find the right combination of skills, voices and perspectives for the work in front of us.
HOME BASE
Madja was built in Ottawa–Gatineau, and the region remains central to who we are. Alongside film and creative production, Madja works with local entrepreneurs, small businesses and community organizations on digital marketing, SEO and website projects that help them communicate clearly and grow.
