Kizomba Is Joy is a short documentary about Elvis Amisi, an Ottawa Kizomba instructor whose path from Bukavu, Congo, through Uganda and eventually Canada shaped his relationship with music, movement and belonging.

As Elvis reflects on displacement, rediscovery and the community he helped build with Véronique, the film reveals how Kizomba became more than a dance — it became a place of joy, freedom and home.

Through Elvis, his teaching partner Véronique and members of Ottawa's Kizomba community, the documentary looks at the way movement can carry memory, create connection and help people build a sense of home in a new place.
