When the day gets heavy,
sometimes the answer is movement.
“Sway” is a 2014 music video
for singer and songwriter Miss Lee, directed
and edited by Christian K. Kalambay.
Built around a song of resilience, release
and dance, the video connects the energy of
Miss Lee's performance with the movement and
intimacy of social dance.
The song follows a woman carrying the weight
of everyday life who finds freedom on the
dance floor. Its references to Kizomba and
Tarraxinha give that release a distinctly
rhythmic and physical language.
Filmed in Ottawa at the University of Ottawa
and Azucar Dance Studio, the video places
performance and dance within recognizable
spaces from the city's cultural landscape.
